6 Anti-Aging Tools that will Change your Life

I'm 44 years old now, I've had two kids and I spent most of my 20s as a party girl living in Los Angeles.

I have not been kind to my body and at 30 years of age I started having some frustrating health issues. Frankly, having health problems at 30 made me feel much older than I was.

I was suffering with:

Skin issues
Digestive issues
Joint and muscle discomfort
Mood imbalance
Hormone imbalance

…and more. It was frustrating and made me feel helpless at first. And then I decided that I would do whatever it took to change the trajectory of my health and my body.

For the last 14 years, I've been on a mission to improve my health and increase my chances of aging gracefully.

I'd like to share my top 6 anti-aging tips and rituals that have made me look and feel younger now than I did 10 years ago.

#1: Stay Hydrated.

Staying hydrated sounds simple but it is not always easy.

Not only do you need to be drinking plenty of water - you should also be aware of the quality of the water you’re drinking. Don’t just turn on the tap and drink whatever flows out! Get yourself a high-quality water filtration system. I like the PiMag Waterfall by Nikken. Not only does it filter out contaminants and pharmaceuticals but it also restructures the water.

My goal is to drink half my body weight in ounces each day. I try to drink half that amount first thing in the morning before I put anything else in my body.

I use a large quart mason jar to measure how much water I’m drinking throughout my day. This is a great way to keep track of how much water you’re drinking. Start by measuring how much water you need to be drinking daily according to your weight. Find your weight or make an estimate, then divide that in half. Then, take ½ your body weight and divide the volume value by 32 to find how many quart jars you’ll need a day (because quart jars make it so easy).

I go the extra step and add a few drops of citrus essential oil into each glass of water. This is an antioxidant, it uplifts my mood, and it supports my immune system. My favorite essential oil to put in my drinking water right now is Tangerine.

#2: Use Collagen.

Using collagen helps the mobility of your joints and it helps your skin elasticity and ability to regenerate. Whether you're drinking bone broth or taking a collagen supplement this is an anti-aging powerhouse and I highly recommend it.

In my years working to reverse and lessen the signs of aging in myself, my research has taught me that getting as close as possible to the nutrients our ancestors received is a great way to feel and look our best. Our ancestors got a lot of collagen from their meat and veggie-centric diets.

The less vegetables and healthy meats we eat (and the more processed food we consume), the less likely we are to be getting the collagen we need. Our joints because less mobile and more achy, our skin becomes more dry and less elastic, and our overall health and flexibility suffers.

When I began paying attention to how much collagen my body was getting, I noticed that some of the frustrating effects of my aging lessened or even went away.

There are multiple ways to get collagen in your diet. I like to make sure I’m taking a collagen supplement as well as consuming healthy meats.

#3: Use a Yoni Egg.

I tried using a Yoni Egg and I absolutely believe in it. This is an anti-aging secret not just for down below, but actually for your entire body.

You might be wondering, what is a Yoni Egg?

A Yoni Egg is a polished stone (in the shape of an egg) that is intended to be inserted into your Yoni (vagina). Not only can this help you strengthen your pelvic floor naturally as with all kegel training, the type of stone you choose can be helpful energetically.

Many people choose Jade or Quartz to improve the energy of the womb and increase sexual libido.

Not only can you keep your vagina happy, healthy, strong but practicing with a yoni egg can also give you a natural face lift. #4: Try Gua Sha.

This is one of my favorite beauty rituals. It's so relaxing. I get to incorporate my beloved essential oils into the process and I see immediate results on my skin.

Gua Sha is intended to decrease wrinkles and fine lines in the face, lessen undereye circles and improve circulation to the skin. To use the Gua Sha technique, purchase a Gua Sha stone and using oil, apply pressure to your face to increase circulation and lessen wrinkles. Wild Lily Organics has great tutorials and classes on performing Gua Sha on your face.

Since I began using a Gua Sha stone in my skincare routine, I have gotten compliments on my “glowing” complexion and I’m excited to see the lines in my face barely visible.

I will turn to an expert here and direct you to Wild Lily Organics to purchase your Gua Sha tools and learn this technique, but I'd like to share my favorite essential oils to use during this ritual and why I love them.

Simply choose the essential oil you like and add a few drops to a teaspoon of Jojoba oil, then massage that into your clean neck and face before you do your Gua Sha ritual.

Neroli - I often choose Neroli because it has an alluring, seductive aroma. Neroli is an oil of self-love, loving another and partnership. For your skin, Neroli is particularly helpful if you have scarring or inflammation and you want a clearer and smoother face.

Yarrow Pom - This is a heavy-hitter. Yarrow Pom is a blend of Yarrow essential oil and Pomegranate seed oil as a carrier, which has very powerful antioxidant properties. Yarrow Pom blend activates skin-protecting proteins (inhibiting the enzymes that breakdown elasticity and collagen) with the added benefit of promoting collagen production. I love this blend for making my skin tighter and more radiant.

Rose touch - doTERRA’s diluted Rose Touch comes in a roll-on bottle for easy facial application. I like to use Rose on my entire face but especially my neck and upper chest (décolletage area). I find that it tightens the skin of my neck. Rose promotes a healthy and even skin tone and has the highest vibrational frequency of any essential oil. Using Rose makes me feel like a Queen!

Immortelle blend - doTERRA Immortelle blend contains Frankincense Resin, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lavender Flower, Myrrh Gum Resin, Helichrysum Flower, and Rose Flower essential oils. #6: Move your Body.

However you can, figure out how to move your body every day.

My husband and I like to do CrossFit together. But for you it might be yoga, dancing, running, hiking or swimming.

It's very important for women to do weight-bearing exercise so that their bone density can increase as they age. Mobility training is also important so that we can continue to walk up and down stairs, lift heavy things, and stay free as long as possible.

Commit to the idea that as long as you’re moving, you’re winning.

You don’t have to be a serious athlete to benefit immensely through movement! Take a walk, go to the park, or park your car at the far end of the parking lot and walk. Instead of taking the elevator, start taking the stairs.

Moving your body is not just about your physical self…although of course it helps you maintain a healthy weight, feel strong, and increase circulation. Moving your body also helps you to have time to clear your mind, eliminate brain fog, decrease anxious thoughts and find creative inspiration because you’re taking care of your needs.
