Delicious, Healthy New Year's Mocktails

I LOVE mocktails!

I cannot think of a better way to toast to our health and happiness for 2021 than to create one of these beautiful essential-oil-infused drinks.

Whether you like your drinks hot or iced, making oil mocktails is super easy. I make mocktails nearly every day because they’re great for my body and they make life more fun. Every cup of tea and every spritzer is better with yummy essential oils!

New to using oils internally? Welcome to the wonderful world of doTERRA! If you’re wondering whether your oil can be consumed, check the side of the bottle. If it reads “Ingredients”, you can use it aromatically and topically. But if it says “Supplement facts”, it’s also approved for internal use! Some of my favorite internal oils are Wild Orange, Cardamom, Peppermint, Turmeric and Lime.

So grab your doTERRA oils and get ready to welcome the exciting possibilities of the new year with a delicious drink…

Ah, a festive spritzer! There is something about a fresh, fruity, sparkling drink that makes New Year’s night so sweet.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 drop doTERRA Lime essential oil

  • 2 drops doTERRA Wild Orange essential oil

  • A glass of ice

  • Sparkling water

  • Cranberry Juice

  • Raw honey (optional)

How to make:

Fill a glass with ice and add 1 drop of doTERRA Lime essential oil, then 2 drops of doTERRA Wild Orange essential oil.

Pour sparkling water into the glass until it fills the glass 3/4 full, then fill the rest with cranberry juice.

If you prefer your drinks sweeter, add a teaspoon of raw honey and stir until thoroughly mixed in.

Stir and enjoy!

Spearmint Lime blended “Mojito”

I love mojitos because they’re refreshing and leave a beautiful aftertaste! I like this blended version because it reminds me of sunny summer days that I’m sure are in store for us. You’re going to enjoy this healthy, non-alcoholic version of a mojito so much that I’ll bet you’ll make this one all year long.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 fresh Limes, juiced

  • 1 drop doTERRA Spearmint essential oil

  • 2 cups ice

  • 1/8 cup fresh mint leaves

  • 1/4 cup Simple syrup (equal parts sugar & water, boiled together until sugar melts)

How to make:

Combine fresh mint leaves, ice, simple syrup, and lime juice in the blender. Add 1 drop of doTERRA Spearmint essential oil and blend until evenly mixed.

Pour into a glass and garnish with lime wedges, mint leaves or a sprig of edible herbs from your garden! Enjoy.

Cardamom Cassia Hot Chocolate

If you like your drinks hot and sweet, this one’s for you!

Cassia is so, so underrated. While I enjoy Cinnamon, Cassia has all of the spice of cinnamon with a sweeter edge! Cardamom and Cassia taste incredible together but they also have some hidden health benefits. For example, did you know that Cardamom has a cooling, mentholated effect? It is used in many breathing recipes to help ease a cough. Cardamom is used in many teas and sweets but its helpful effects are not to be overlooked. Enjoy this warming hot chocolate recipe with 2 of my favorite oils!

Note about using oils for hot drinks: Heat changes the chemistry of essential oils. Whenever possible, create your hot drink and add your oils after it sits for a few minutes, not while they’re boiling.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 drop doTERRA Cassia essential oil

  • 1 drop doTERRA Cardamom essential oil

  • 4 cups milk or alternative (Oat milk is great for this! Macadamia is also one of my favorites)

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup bittersweet (or semi-sweet) chocolate chips

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to make:

Combine your cocoa powder, oat milk, and granulated sugar in a pan. Heat slowly and stir but don’t bring to a full boil, adding chocolate before you reaching the boiling point. Add in vanilla and stir.

Remove from heat and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes, then add 1 drop each doTERRA Cardamom and Cassia essential oils. Mix, pour into a mug and enjoy by the fire!

I hope you love these recipes and use them to celebrate ringing in the new year.
